Starcom Melbourne Picks Up Home Timber and Hardware Group

Starcom Melbourne has announced it has picked up the Home Timber and Hardware Group media account from Dentsu Aegis without a pitch.

Home Timber and Hardware was acquired by Metcash in 2016, driving the creation of the Independent Hardware Group within Metcash, charged with leading the Home Timber and Hardware Group and Mitre 10 brands.

Starcom Melbourne managing director Peter Toone (pictured above) said: “To be able to work with not one but two leading hardware brands is a rare opportunity, and one we are very excited to be able to fulfil.

“Both Mitre 10 and Home Timber and Hardware have a strong track record in building their brands and giving them a unique role in Australia’s hardware landscape.”

Starcom Australia CEO Toby Barbour added: “We’ve been fortunate enough to work with the Metcash group for over a decade, giving us a deep insight into their business and category – experience we look forward to applying to the Home Timber and Hardware business.”

Karen Fahey, general manager of marketing at Independent Hardware Group, said: “We’ve had a great relationship with the Melbourne team for a number of years, and are looking forward to extending the relationship further.

“As Australia’s leading independent home improvement and hardware wholesaler to the industry, the quality of our partners is paramount.”

The win continues positive momentum for Starcom Melbourne, having won MYOB, Metricon Homes, Fiat Chrysler and Ego Pharmaceuticals within the past 12 months.
