US candymaker Starburst has launched its first “vertically shaped candy” and to support the release it’s also unveiled a new campaign that it describes as “best viewed vertically”.
According to the Mars-owned lolly maker, most of its customers (who are probably all under the age of 15) view ads solely on their smartphones and typically always vertically.
Playing on the theme, it’s just launched a fun new spot called “Even more vertical” that looks rather odd unless you flip your phone sideways.
The ad’s the work of DDB Chicago and shows people experiencing weird gravitational effects while in a hair salon, but when the screen is tilted 90 degrees, it becomes obvious that the video is meant to be viewed vertically.
