Broken Ankles Star In Slightly Painful Yet Witty Powerade Campaign

People falling down and breaking their ankles doesn’t seem like a whole heap of fun, however, it’s the premise of a witty new spot for sports drink maker Powerade out of the US.

The 30-second spot was made by acclaimed US agency Wieden+Kennedy Portland and is, coincidentally enough, titled “ankles”.

In the ad, we find an ageing store owner reminiscing back to his younger basketball playing days and want he could’ve done on the court if only he’d had a Powerade.

The ads are set to run during “March Madness”, a 68-team national college basketball tournament. A spokesperson for the brand saying the campaign “will build on Powerade’s deep roots in sports, utilising hyperbole and humour to give powerful sporting moments even more power.”
