Former cricketing legend Shane Warne was in quite a mood with The Age on the Logies red carpet, reportedly resorting to expletives when encountering Fairfax Media’s photographer Matthew Lynn.
The Sydney Morning Herald is this morning reporting Warnie, upon learning of Lynn’s employee, said “f*ck The Age” and turned away from the camera.
Lynn told The SMH when it was his turn to take photos, Warnie turned his head away from the Fairfax camera. Lynn exchanged a weird look with the other photographer from News Corp’s Herald Sun and another media person.
It’s not the first time Warne has gotten testy with the media. When he was booted out of Ten’s reality show I’m a celebrity…get me out of here! his interview on The Project didn’t end happily after co-host Waleed Aly inquired about the embattled Shane Warne foundation.
Warnie labelled Aly – who has just won the Gold Logie for best personality on TV – “smug”, “arrogant” and a “dick” after Aly asked Warnie what he was going to do about the struggling charity organisation.
The foundation had come apart at the seams a few months ago. At the time the SMH reported it had been hemorrhaging money, “running at a financial loss for four out of the past five years”.
“I have been in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in isolation for six weeks so I have no idea what’s going on there at the moment. I have done 13 hours of PR straight,” said Warne to Aly during The Project’s interview.
“We have nothing to hide. We welcome any audit,” he added. “It is really disappointing that people want to come after some good people that have raised a lot of money and made a serious difference to seriously underprivileged children.
“You can all get stuffed if you want to have a go at us for it but we are very, very proud of what we have been able to achieve.”
Ten’s I’m a celebrity…get me out of here! was one of five nominated for ‘Best reality show’ at the Logies this year.
However, it was Nine’s The Block which took out the title.
