Jordan King, Seven’s national digital sales director, has left the business.
B&T understands that King’s role was impacted by Seven’s recent rounds of restructuring.
It has variously been reported that between 200 and 300 roles were removed from the company.
King joined Seven West Media from rivals Nine Entertainment in November 2024. He had held several senior digital sales roles during his seven years with Nine, including director of programmatic and digital sales.
King was responsible for all of Seven’s digital advertising sales. He worked alongside Katie Finney who leads Seven’s TV and streaming ad sales. Finney has worked at Seven for nearly 25 years, stepping into her current role two months ago.
It is unclear whether King’s role will be replaced.
In an interview with Mumbrella, Rohan Lund, CEO of Southern Cross Media Group (Seven’s parent following its acquisition by Southern Cross Austereo) said that there would be a “resetting” of the company’s cost base.
“There’s a natural resetting of your cost base, and responding to cyclical conditions. And it’s hard, and it’s awful when that happens, but I can definitely see radio has gone through it more than anyone else in media, from what I can see at the moment,” Lund told Mumbrella.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Southern Cross Media Group told B&T: “As a matter of policy, we do not comment on specific employment matters out of respect for the privacy of those involved.”
When King joined Seven, he said:
“I’m tremendously excited to be joining Seven as it continues to transition and evolve into a media business of the future. Seven is bolstering its impressive BVOD footprint and expanding its live streaming credentials with the introduction of the cricket and AFL digital rights.
“It is uniquely placed to capture audiences at scale in the Australian market… I’m energised at the opportunities emerging at Seven and across BVOD with the launch of VOZ Streaming and can’t wait to get started.”
