Sea FM has announced a new-look breakfast team for the Gold Coast in 2017, which will feature a former contestant of The Bachelor, a recently-retired NRL star and a radio veteran.
Heather Maltman, Ben Hannant and Dan Anstey will join forces to form the new brekkie line-up next year.
Southern Cross Austereo’s regional manager for the Gold Coast, Alison Geale, said Sea FM is excited to begin a new chapter and bring a brand new sound to the Goldy.
“We are very excited about our new Sea FM breakfast team,” she said.
“With such a broad range of backgrounds and experience, it is sure to be an exciting way for Gold Coasters to start their day.”
Having grown up on the Gold Coast, Maltman said she is excited to be heading home to take up her new role.
“I’m really excited about giving the girls on the Gold Coast the opportunity to have a voice – it’s not just about my story and my views, but theirs as well,” she said.
“I think I will bring a lot of love to the team and a perhaps a little bit of sass.”
Meanwhile, Hannant, a two-time NRL premiership winner who also represented Queensland and Australia before retiring at the end of last season, said he is looking forward to giving back to the place where his sporting success all began.
“To be able to do this as a job and be back home on the Coast really ticks a lot of boxes,” he said.
“The radio show environment for me feels a bit like a locker room situation, sitting around having a yarn. I feel comfortable in that environment and I’m a pretty open book, so I think listeners will certainly learn a lot about me.”
Anstey, who boasts almost 10 years’ experience in radio, said that while he has been in the industry for much longer than Maltman and Hannant, he reckons the pair will give him back the edge that he perhaps may have lost.
“Essentially my job is to metaphorically run around with a lasso and reign the guys in, while also taking the mickey out of them a lot,” he said.
