Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has announced that Robin Bailey will join Triple M’s Brisbane breakfast team in 2017, less than a month after she was controversially sacked from her hosting role with Australian Radio Network’s (ARN’s) 97.3FM in Brisbane.
Bailey will team up with Greg Martin and Ed Kavalee to bring a brand new brekkie show to Brisbane next year.
Bailey spent 10 years as a presenter on Brisbane’s 97.3FM before being shafted by ARN last month, with the network claiming it was unable to agree to terms with the host.
However, Bailey fired back at ARN, saying she was “blindsided” by ARN’s decision not to renew her contract.
Bailey said she jumped at the chance when offered the new role at Triple M.
“To join Marto and Ed for breakfast is a dream come true,” she said.
“It means I will be able to continue to do what I love most – broadcasting to the people of Brisbane. I’m really looking forward to this great new challenge.
“I love rock music. I’ve been a sneaky listener of Triple M for years. Bring on more Cold Chisel, I say!”
SCA’s general manager for Brisbane, Damon Rielly, said that after hearing about Bailey’s sudden departure from ARN, the network did not hesitate to offer her a job at Triple M.
“Robin loves Brisbane and loves her rock, and I can’t wait for Brisbane to wake up to Marto, Ed and Robin next year to start the day finding out what matters in Brisbane,” he said.
