Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds used artificial intelligence (AI) model ChatGPT to write a script for his company Mint Mobile with spookily good results.
In the ad, Reynolds explains he submitted a prompt to ChatGPT asking it to generate copy that features a joke, a swear word and a reminder that Mint Mobile’s holiday promotion is ongoing.
According to an article on Marketing Dive, he went on to describe the alarmingly good results as ‘eerie’ and ‘mildly terrifying’.
The premise for the ad is simple. Reynolds explains the concept and then reads the script out, seemingly spooked at just how good it is.
The actor has built up a strong reputation in marketing by speedily latching on to social media discussions and appearing in commercials for his own brands, which include Mint Mobile and Aviation Gin.
Reynold’s Mint Mobile aims to save customers money by tailoring their internet allowance after three months of usage.
While the ad is a little gimmicky, the report suggests ChatGPT is being taken seriously as a potential tool in marketing.
Last year, Patrick Rutkowski, Creative Technologist from Banter gave his views on whether AI could be the future of copywriting.
