Nine’s Amelia Adams has taken to Twitter to call out trolls shaming her for leaving her children to cover the war in Ukraine.
Adams has bravely headed overseas to cover the war between Ukraine and Russia and has been tweeting some pretty harrowing updates.
Including the image of 109 prams in Lviv square, the number of Ukrainian children already killed in the ongoing war.

Of course, her coverage is incredibly important and brave but Adam’s recently took to Twitter to share that she’s also been facing mum shaming.
Someone tweeted at Adam “As a young mother of young children yourself, I find it inconvincible that you would risk leaving your children motherless by entertaining a war zone just to make a name for yourself!”
Adam replied, “Thanks for your concern, but I’ve been on TV for nearly 20 years and a parent for 8 of those. I’m here to do my job and my children are proud of me.”

Of course, assumedly none of Adam’s male coworkers with families are dealing with these kinds of tweets.
Thankfully, other media veterans rallied around the Nine reporter in support.
Well, I didn't know trolls could send messages from the 19th century.
Doing a brilliant job over there Millie. Your work family is just as proud as the one at home.— Brett Mcleod (@Brett_McLeod) March 21, 2022

You are doing a brilliant job, Amelia.
Comments like this are sexist and idiotic. 💪🏼

Naturally, leaving your family to go and cover a war is an incredible sacrifice, but shouldn’t it be admired? rather than criticized.
It really is amazing that a woman can be in a literal warzone and still be mummy shamed.
