Radio DJ Causes Outrage By Only Playing WHAM!’s Godawful ‘Last Christmas’

A radio DJ in Austria has found himself in a spot of bother after he tried to get listeners into the Christmas spirit by playing Wham!’s hideous 1985 festive hit “Last Christmas” over and over.

DJ Joe Kohlhofer was so adamant that his audience would listen only to the truly shithouse Christmas hit he barricaded himself in the studio and played the awfulness on repeat 24 times.

And according to Austrian media reports, the DJ only gave up his Christmas protest when his own four-year-old daughter was put on the line, saying she didn’t like the song.

However, Kohlhofer’s actions haven’t gone done well with staff and management at the station where he works. According to newspaper reports the stunt was unplanned and the DJ now faces serious “consequences” from station management.

“In general, it was funny but there must be consequences,” a spokesman for the station said. “As a consequence he will have to work tomorrow on Christmas [Eve] and on New Year’s Eve.”
