Seven’s “Hoges” Disappoints On Debut, As MKR Takes A Tumble

Seven’s “Hoges” Disappoints On Debut, As MKR Takes A Tumble

Seven’s Hoges:The Paul Hogan Story debuted to a TV audience of 837,000 last night, however, the bigger story was shrinking audiences for Seven’s stalwart My Kitchen Rules according to overnight OzTam figures.

The long-running cooking program is rarely headed but last night was almost pipped by Nine’s Married At First Sight which has been enjoying phenomenal media attention since its debut. It certainly justifies Nine’s decision to pitch the show against MKR in the 7pm timeslot.

MKR still held on for a win with 1.08 million viewers – its lowest ever audience – but Married Af First Sight wasn’t far behind with 1.06 million.

Numbers for Seven’s Hoges – starring Josh Lawson in a laughably ill-fitting wig – would have disappointed Seven bosses considering last year’s Molly had a million more viewers on its debut (1.79 million).

Last night’s eviction of Tom Arnold from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here was good news for Ten, bringing in 720,000 viewers.

Seven still won the night with 31.4 per cent, followed by Nine with 30.3 per cent, ABC with 16.8 per cent, TEN with 14.6 per cent and SBS landed 6.9 per cent.

The ABC managing to bring in good eyeballs from viewers clearly tired of all the reality shows on the free to airs on a Sunday night. Its Midsomer Murders scored 827,000, ABC News had 763,000 viewers, followed by Grand Designs with 667,000.
