Olly Newton has been promoted to Southern Cross Media’s group digital commercial director.
B&T understands he will be overseeing commercial operations across both platforms LiSTNR and 7+. And his remit will include programmatic, product, data strategy, partnerships and ad operations.
Newton will report to Natalie Harvey, SCA’s new chief revenue officer. Harvey herself will join the business in September.
Newton’s move comes amid a broader reshuffle of Southern Cross’s sales function. Katie Finney will continue to lead Total TV across metro, regional, 7Plus, and 7news.com.au, reporting to Angus Ross (MD, TV and Streaming).
Luke Minto, national head of total audio sales will lead metro, regional, and digital audio, reporting to John Kelly (MD of audio).
Brent Stewart Southern Cross’ chief sales officer of publishing will lead The Nightly, The West Australian, PerthNow, and regional titles, reporting to Maryna Fewster (CEO WA and publishing).
Newton’s promotion follows the departure of Jordan King, Seven’s national digital sales director.
Prior to Newton being elevated, he was the executive head of LiSTNR Commercial. In this role Newton was responsible for leading LiSTNR’s commercial strategy and driving the digital audio commercial division within the business.
B&T understands that King’s role was impacted by Seven’s recent rounds of restructuring.
In Southern Cross’ full-year financial results it was confirmed 250 jobs were impacted.
Southern Cross Media Group declined to comment.
