Nine To Revamp The Footy Show After Disastrous Debut, As Host Erin Molan Hits Back At Critics

The producers at Nine are having another go at revamping its flagship NRL analysis program, following a social media shellacking from viewers of The Footy Show last week.

The debut episode of the new-look show went to air last Thursday night, but turned out to be not what the doctor ordered, with a plethora of viewers describing it as “appalling”, “garbage”, “boring”, and an “absolute trainwreck”.

And it seems Nine has listened to the overly negative criticism, with the broadcast’s director of sport, Tom Malone, looking to change up The Footy Show’s content and delivery, according to The Australian, but won’t be tinkering with the hosting panel.

Nine held on to Erin Molan, Beau Ryan and Darryl “The Big Marn” Brohman as presenters, with NRL legends Andrew Johns and Ryan Girdler filling the gap left by longtime host Andrew “Fatty” Vautin.

Molan has defended herself against the critics, telling Stellar magazine: “Things that used to hurt me and offend and upset me don’t anymore.

“You can say that I’m ugly, you can say I’m a shit TV presenter, you can say anything you like about me. But there’s certain things you can’t say when they’re not true.”

The “certain things” Molan was referring to were claims last year that she was having an affair with celebrity accountant Anthony Bell, forcing her to take legal action to clear her name.
