Nine Finalises Its Sales Leadership Team With New Digital Appointments

Nine today announced it has finalised its senior digital sales leadership team with the appointment of Nathan Powell (pictured above) as Director of Digital Sales Product and promotion of Anthony Mogensen and Anjuli Plozza as Head of Digital in their respective Sydney and Melbourne markets.

Powell joins Nine to lead its team of sales specialists across mobile, programmatic, native, video and Microsoft product offerings. All three appointments come just months after Ben Gunn, Nine’s director of sales, digital, was hired to drive the company’s digital sales offering.

“This is the right sales team to drive Nine’s digital offering forward and one that will  reinvigorate the product and sales initiatives we take to market,” Gunn said.

“Nathan Powell is a great hire for the Nine business and we are excited to have him leading our team of specialists as we continue to evolve our digital offering in key areas, such as mobile and programmatic.

“I am also thrilled to have Anthony Mogensen and Anjuli Plozza step up to lead the digital sales offerings in their respective states. I am confident they have the skills and insight into the evolving digital landscape to make a real difference in how we go to market.”

Nathan Powell has been with Fairfax for the past five years, having held various roles, most recently as business development & commercial partnerships manager.

Anthony Mogensen was most recently Nine’s director, Bing Strategic and previously worked for HS3 and SBS, while Anjuli Plozza is Nine’s head of consumer insight and has held various sales roles across the business.

Alex Parsons, Nine’s chief marketing and digital officer, said Nine’s new digital leadership team would help to ensure the company is increasingly competitive in the highly fragmented digital landscape.

“We reach millions of Australians every month and we have a world-class digital platform, but with the appointment of both Ben Gunn and now his senior digital sales team this puts us on the path of having a world-class digital sales team,” Parsons said.

All three appointments come just weeks after nine.com.au and its associated sites across the Nine digital network surged in the Australian news rankings, moving from seventh to third largest commercial news website following a review by Nielsen of its homepage classification. Nine’s digital properties include nine.com.au, 9News, Wide World of Sports, Honey, Coach, Pickle and the recently launched travel site Elsewhere, plus the Microsoft products suite of MSN, Skype and Outlook.
