Arguably Australia’s finest global export, Nicole Kidman, stuns in a wonderful ode to the power of cinema for US cinema chain AMC.
Presumably the spot is to entice American cinemagoers back to theatres who are possibly reluctant to buy a ticket in the age of the pandemic. The constant postponing of new blockbusters probably not helping things either.
The spot, called “We Make Movies Better”, sees Kidman deliver a powerful eulogy to the sheer joy of going to see a movie sans the sticky seats and incessant lollie packet rustling.
It’s the work of Kansas-based creative agency Barkley who leaned on some pretty powerful friends to make the minute-long spot.
It was directed by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth whose film credits include Fight Club and Gone Girl. And was written by another Academy Award nominee Billy Ray (Captain Phillips).
