New Idea and publisher are media has publicly apologised to Grand Denyer over a cover that implied he was having an affair with his Dancing With The Stars partner, Lily Cornish.
Denyer announced via Instagram that Are Media has written an apology in New Idea and also given the television host an undisclosed settlement – a pretty big win.
New Idea – published the apology in the editors’ section and said: “On October 18 2021, Are Media and New Idea published an article that conveyed Grant Denyer was having an extra-marital affair, with his Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars, dance partner, Lily Cornish, and his wife Chezzi was heartbroken in response. The article was false.”
The settlement comes after New Idea published a now, infamous cover that featured the words, “Grany Denyer Caught Out,” accompanied by a photo of Denyer and Cornish – she was resting her head on Denyer.
The salacious cover also featured the words, “Chezzi’s heartbreak” and “shock new pics.” Chezzi is Denyer’s wife, Cheryl Denyer.
Basically, the. cover seemingly heavily implied that Denyer was having an affair with Cornish.
Claims Denyer has vehemently denied.

Denyer posted a photo of the apology by Are Media on Instagram and wrote: “As many of you have already read and raised with us, New Idea have printed today on the editor’s page an apology to Chezzi, Lily and myself for their most recent attack.
“The false, sensationalised, out of context and WRONG front cover and they have admitted (which very RARELY EVER happens) that the article was FALSE.
“They also have admitted that they regret publishing the article.
“And while I can’t disclose details, I want you to know that we employed Richard Leder and Georgie Austin from Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Renee Enbom QC, with every intention of suing but have since reached a suitable confidential settlement outside of court which includes, most importantly, a public apology and admission that the story and headline were false.
“Writing false stories should be ILLEGAL but it’s not. While we can’t ever remove the front cover from circulation, we hope this sets a serious precedent for the future.
“Thanks to each and every one of you who have sent us letters, emails and messages of support throughout this, and to all of those who passed on their disdain to New Idea and boycotted the magazine.
“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Without your support, the 3 of us may not have been brave enough to take on this media giant.”
The publication told B&T, “Are Media and New Idea have issued an apology on the matter and will not be commenting further.”
While this may be a win for Denyer, it could be a loss for anyone that enjoys rumoured romances.
