New Feature Makes It Harder To Facebook Stalk Your Ex

New Feature Makes It Harder To Facebook Stalk Your Ex

Breaking up is hard to do, but Facebook has made it slightly easier with new features to help heartbroken people make sure their ex knows “we’re never, ever getting back together”.

Starting today, Facebook is testing tools to help people navigate that rocky time when someone tells “its not you, it’s me” or “I think we should just be friends” or “for f-sake I don’t want to see your face ever again”.

According to Facebook’s product manager Kelly Winters the ‘take a break’ feature means you:

  • See less of a former partner’s name and profile picture around Facebook without having to unfriend or block them.
  • Their posts won’t show up in News Feed and their name won’t be suggested when people write a new message or tag friends in photos.
  • Limit the photos, videos or status updates that a former partner will see.
  • Edit who can see their past posts with a former partner and untag themselves from posts with that person.

When Facebook users change their relationship status from ‘happily married’ to ‘single’ they will be prompted to try these tools.

The tools are being tested  in the US on mobile, and will be rolled out further based on people’s feedback.
