Hannah Warren, Netball Australia’s head of marketing, has stepped off the court after four years in the role.
B&T understands that Warren’s role has been made redundant as part of a restructure.
The news comes as Netball Australia prepares for the upcoming 2027 World Cup, which will be hosted right here on Aussie soil.
Warren took to LinkedIn to make the announcement.
“Today marks my final day at Netball Australia. A tough call to make, but the right one,” she wrote.
“I leave filled with gratitude for the opportunity to shape the game that has shaped me. And I’m proud. I’m proud to have delivered campaigns that ‘roared’ (thank you Erin Delahunty), that challenged perceptions and championed female athletes and leaders.”
Warren was influential in launching the ‘Brace Yourself’ brand identity for the 2027 World Cup.
B&T spoke to Warren at the time of the launch.
“‘Brace Yourself’ is an articulation of something big that is coming,” she said.
“We want to create a brand that is representative of an event that’s going to be impossible to ignore. We want to create a level of energy and excitement and we want this tournament to represent something more than just a netball game—it’s going to be a movement.”
Now, nearly a year on, Warren is no longer with the sport and won’t be there for the World Cup.
Nonetheless, she has certainly left her mark on the sport.
B&T sat down with Warren who has felt like she had done everything “she wanted to do in netball”.
When I first arrived, it was a sport that I felt lacked a position, voice and an expression in the market. I am really proud and quite privileged to have the opportunity to give it that voice and work really closely with the Fox team to make sure that the way that we, particularly the Suncorp Super Netball brand, represented and really stood for exactly what it was, which is the original elite women’s game,” she told B&T.
She continued by saying that when she came into the business AFLW and NRLW were making head waves in the market.
“There was a lot of noise about the AFLW and the NRLW and everyone talking about women’s sport like it was this brand new concept, which I found really frustrating. So I wanted to make sure that netball owned that position, and we did that with the first campaign.. we started a podcast, we were nominated for an Australian Sports Commission Media Award, and then we won an Australian Sports Commission Media Award, and I just felt like it was time for for me to hang up the netburners and and to give the next gen.”
Following her announcement Warren has been overwhelmed with support.
The comments and the messages that I have received about the impact I’ve made has been one of the most humbling moments of my career. If I’m speaking honestly, I didn’t expect it in the slightest, and it’s a really, really cool feeling,” she said.
B&T contacted Netball Australia for comment.
