Netball World Cup 2027 Launces In Sydney With “Impossible To Ignore” ‘Brace Yourself’ Identity

The Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 launched today, exactly two years out from when the final will be played—with a helping hand from Sydney’s bold, bright and beautiful weather.

Netball Australia, World Netball (WN) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) came together this morning at Sydney’s Circular Quay, the vibrant heart of the iconic Harbour, to reveal a daring and contemporary brand identity of ‘Brace Yourself’.

“‘Brace Yourself’ is an articulation of something big that is coming,” Netball Australia’s, head of marketing, Hannah Warren told B&T.

“We want to create a brand that is representative of an event that’s going to be impossible to ignore. We want to create a level of energy and excitement and we want this tournament to represent something more than just a netball game—it’s going to be a movement.”

The 2027 Netball World Cup has three partners at the moment—the Australian Government, NSW Government and the official supplier Gilbert.

However, Warren did explain to B&T that Netball Australia and the Netball World Cup LOC is having meaningful conversations in the market and is looking for partners to be apart of the movement.

“Attracting commercial partners is integral to the success of this event. And what we are telling commercial partners is that this is going to be a truly global event and the pinnacle of netball, not just in Australia, but worldwide,” she said.

“It’s really very purpose driven, we’re grounded in country for this event. So in celebration as well, there’s the First Nations artwork created by Ginny Jones and we want to make sure that we’re really deliberate in all of our actions around this tournament.

“And we think that’s a really compelling message for commercial partners and government stakeholders and fans alike, to really feel like they can come and be a part of something that is a really significant moment in time.”

Hannah Warren.

Excitingly for prospective Netball World Cup 2027 partners, all 64 matches, including the final will be played in one venue and on one court at Sydney Olympic Park. Warren said this will see an enhancement in the broadcast quality thanks to removing the logistical complexities of multiple venues.

“Operationally and logistically speaking, we’re able to be centred in one singular location removing a number of constraints. Including, having multiple satellite sites in numerous places. Instead, we’ve actually got all of the infrastructure built around one specific venue, allowing us to suddenly start to have really cool conversations around what it means to enhance the broadcast experience,” Warren added.

“One of the key things we are trying to be cognisant of throughout the Netball World Cup is being future focused and making sure that we’re doing things for netball that the sport hasn’t necessarily seen before, so how the broadcast viewer experience looks across multiple devices, how that looks across bringing the fans closer to the action behind the scenes and going in the change rooms—places that the netball broadcast is starting to get to, but probably hasn’t explored to the full potential.”

In the 2015 final between Australia and New Zealand 16,752 fans—a record attendance for any netball match—turned out to watch Australia defend its 2011 World Cup title against New Zealand in a narrow 58–55 victory. This game was held at the Allphones Arena, now the Quodos Bank Arena. The same court will be hosting all 64 matches in 2027.

COUNTRY CALLS

Central to the brand is “COUNTRY CALLS,” a collaboration between artist Ginny Jones, a proud Gomeroi and Kooma woman, and Australian First Nations creative agency YarnnUp Collective.

COUNTRY CALLS pulses with raw energy, inviting the world’s netball community to gather in celebration on Wangal Country. The artwork honours the snapper’s deep significance to Sydney’s First Nations peoples and celebrates the Gymea Lily’s spirit of resilience under pressure.

With words woven through the composition as a reminder that this tournament will be bigger than any game, COUNTRY CALLS is where culture meets court. Electric pinks and vibrant spark against deep foundations—a visual identity that’s unmistakably Sydney, unmistakably alive.

17th Edition

The 2027 World Cup, which will be the 17th edition of the tournament, is set to be a thrilling showcase of top netball nations competing in 64 matches over 12 days from August 25, to September 5, 2027.

“We’re bringing netball to the world in a bigger and more innovative way than ever before. New and existing fans both here in Australia and across the globe are only two years away from seeing some of the most skilful, marketable and competitive female athletes in the world fight it out for netball’s ultimate prize,” said Liz Ellis OA, chair of Netball World Cup Sydney 2027, LOC and Netball Australia.

“Together with our Federal Government, NSW Government and commercial partners we are going to elevate this experience at every level so we can show the world just how Australia does major international events in the green and gold decade. Everyone is going to want a piece of this action.”

The NWC2027 is supported by both the Federal Government and NSW Government

“The NSW Government is proud to welcome the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 to Australia’s major sports event capital,” said Quote attributable to Steve Kamper MP, NSW Minister for Sport, and Minister for Jobs and Tourism: MP, NSW Minister for Sport, and Minister for Jobs and Tourism.

“With our world-class venues and passionate sports fans, Sydney has rightfully earned its reputation as one of the world’s premier stages for elite international sport.

“When the tournament starts in two years, Sydney won’t just welcome the world’s best netball players, but also their fans and spectators. They’ll fill our sporting venues, as well as our hotel rooms, restaurants, pubs, shops, and precincts, giving a significant boost to the NSW visitor economy.”

Mark Falvo, chief operating officer, Netball World Cup Sydney 2027, LOC concluded the vibrant morning with a rallying call, “From centre court to the city, the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 will be unmissable. ‘Brace Yourself.'”

The brand was unveiled with current international netballers (L:R) Sunday Aryang (Australia), Shimona Jok (Jamaica), Kate Moloney (Australia), Mary Cholhok (Uganda) and Liz Watson (Australia)
