GQ Australia has celebrated the 14th GQ Men of the Year Awards in association with BOSS. Seventeen awards were presented at a black-tie event at Crown Sydney ahead of the special GQ Men of the Year collector’s edition magazine.
The GQ Men of the Year Awards in association with BOSS recognise and celebrate extraordinary people who lead by example and achieve great success, continually raising the bar in their chosen field.
Some of Australia’s biggest stars walked the GQ red carpet in Sydney tonight, including GQ Man of the Year Murray Bartlett, recipient of the GQ Global Icon award Russell Crowe, GQ Woman of the Year Olivia DeJonge, GQ Actor of the Year Dacre Montgomery, Breakthrough Musician of the Year Budjerah, plus the pubic voted award for Sportsman of the Year Josh Cavallo and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese.
GQ Australia editor-in-chief Jake Millar said: “GQ Australia has been championing local talent since it first launched more than two decades ago. In the years since, that has become a defining purpose for the brand, not just across our print, digital and social channels, but particularly through tentpole events such as the GQ Men of the Year Awards in association with Boss.
“This year is no different. Because the truth is, we have so much fantastic talent across the country, and the GQ Men of the Year Awards in association with Boss is not simply a fantastic black-tie event, but an opportunity for us to celebrate the individuals who are moving this country forward as role models for the next generation.
‘It’s also why we’re thrilled to be partnering with The Australian newspaper for the first time to distribute the GQ Men of the Year special edition and to ensure the stories of our 2022 winners reach a wider audience than ever before.
“Those who managed to catch TV series The White Lotus will need no introduction to this year’s GQ Man of the Year, Murray Bartlett. His unforgettable performance on the hit show won him not only international acclaim, but also a well-deserved Emmy award.
“He joins Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, our Politician of the Year, as well as Elvis star Olivia DeJonge, Stranger Things stand-out Dacre Montgomery, Heartbreak High breakthrough Josh Heuston, and emerging Aussie singer Budjerah, among this year’s GQ award winners.
“I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge our Fashion Icon, Virgil Abloh, whose tragic loss at the end of last year came as such a shock to so many. It was an honour to recognise his impact and to celebrate the legacy he leaves behind as one of the fashion industry’s most extraordinary visionaries.
“Congratulations again to all of our winners, and a huge thank you to our presenting partner Boss, and to our supporting partners Belvedere, Jaguar, Boss Parfums and Crown Sydney.”
