Aussie favourite Millionaire Hot Seat could be axed after 14 years and replaced with a local version of British TV show Tipping Point.
Millionaire Hot Seat airs weeknights at 5pm on Channel Nine and is hosted by Eddie McGuire. The show recently celebrated its 2500th episode.
According to TV Blackbox, there are rumours that Nine is considering axing the show because it is concerned that it’s no longer giving the big audience it once did.
There have reportedly been speculations from executives about the future of the show and possible replacements.
A local version of UK show Tipping Point, which has begun production, is seen as having the best chance of taking on Seven’s The Chase.
Seven’s The Chase is regularly in the most-watched top ten shows overall, and last night was Australia’s most-watched non-news show.
The UK version of Tipping Point, hosted by Ben Shepherd, is currently streamed on Nine at 3pm on weeknights.
TV Blackbox speculates that Nine will experiment with swapping the Aussie version of the show with Millionaire Hot Seat.
