Airbnb has teamed up with the WACA Ground and cricket legend Mike Hussey, offering cricket fans the ultimate bucket-list experience during the West Ashes Test.

A group of up to four lucky guests will have the opportunity to access an exclusive overnight stay on the WACA Ground’s hallowed turf, timed to celebrate the opening Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series, which is being hosted in Perth for the first time in more than 40 years.

This November, guests will be hosted by Ashes great Mike Hussey, who will share tales from his career in an evening designed to capture the magic of the Ashes as the opening Test of the summer gets underway.

Guests will sleep in a custom glamping tent on the outfield, enjoy a game of backyard cricket with Hussey, a movie night under the stars, and tickets and a VIP experience to the sold-out Day 2 of the Perth Ashes Test.

Airbnb country manager for Australia Susan Wheeldon said Airbnb has an important role to play with major sporting events such as The Ashes.

“Airbnb aims to create unforgettable experiences that connect people to Australia’s rich culture and sporting legacy. Together with the iconic WACA Ground, we’re offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and breathe cricket history,” she said.

“The Ashes is driving demand in Perth, with Airbnb searches more than double from international visitors1. It’s no surprise the UK leads the pack, while Millennial searches jumped over 50 percent.

“Major events such as The Ashes bring people together from around the world and present a fantastic option for those looking to pocket some extra cash and offset other holiday expenses.”

WA Cricket CEO John Stephenson is thrilled fans are flocking to Perth for the first Ashes Test.

“It’s been more than 40 years since an Australian home Ashes campaign opened anywhere other than Brisbane and it was here at the WACA Ground, where we witnessed some of the greatest moments in Ashes history and the rise of legendary Australian cricketers,” he said.

“In collaboration with Airbnb, we’re opening our doors in a new and exciting way – giving fans a chance to wake up where sporting magic happens and experience the traditions that make cricket so special.

“The demand for this series has been huge with more than 18,000 guests from interstate and overseas purchasing over 42,000 tickets to the West Test.”

Cricket legend Mike Hussey is looking forward to sharing the memories of his stellar international cricket career.

“What better way to kick off the 2025 Ashes series than with an exclusive stay on the famous WACA Ground in my home town, Perth. I’m really excited to team up with Airbnb to promote sport tourism and share this amazing experience.”

This one time overnight stay takes place on Friday, 21st November and can be booked for a duck at $0.00 AUD for a group of up to four guests. Travel costs are not included and the stays are selected on a first come, first served basis.

The stay will be available to book on Friday, 7th November at midday (AEDT) via airbnb.com/waca and will include:

An exclusive one night only stay on the WACA Ground and while you’re there:

  • A private tour
  • An up-close look at Mike Hussey’s cricket memorabilia
  • A game of backyard cricket with Mr Cricket
  • Dinner in the Bradman Room
  • A classic Aussie movie night under the stars
  • Four personalised Pledge a Picket around the hallowed WACA Ground
  • Tickets and a VIP experience to the sold-out Day 2 of the West Test
