On Friday May 1st, MediaCom closed its office to hit the streets of Sydney’s CBD to raise much-needed funds to help Starlight ‘Shine On’ and to carry on transforming the hospital experience for sick kids and their families around Australia.
As MediaCom’s recognised charity partner, its people are dedicated to raising vital funds which make a real difference to help brighten the lives of ill children in Australia and help lift their spirits – giving them the opportunity to laugh, play and be a child again.
Participating in Starlight Day for the fifth year in a row, Friday May 1st saw 220 ‘MediaCom-ers’ paint the streets of Sydney purple and yellow, selling merchandise and collecting donations for Starlight Children’s Foundation’s biggest annual fundraising event.
Alaina Hawley, people and culture director at MediaCom said, “Our people have showed huge support and dedication to Starlight Children’s Foundation and have proven that our workplace is at it strongest when people work together to achieve extraordinary results for those less fortunate. We are privileged to work in media so it is great to be able to give back as it is truly the most humbling of experiences. I couldn’t be prouder of all the people who participated. We received an enormous amount of support from media owners and as such, both MediaCom and Starlight Children’s Foundation are extremely thankful for their generosity and support.”
Working as part of numerous teams, ‘MediaCom-ers’ were challenged with the fundraising goal of $45,000 on Starlight Day. Incredibly, the content and connections agency fundraised $51,741. The funds raised will go towards supporting Captain Starlight, Starlight ‘Express Rooms’, granting wishes to sick kids, and most importantly, to increasing the impact Starlight Children’s Foundation has for sick kids and their families around Australia.
Julia Glaser, partnerships executive, Starlight Children’s Foundation said, “MediaCom are such an integral part of our Starlight Day Sydney activation. Through their enthusiasm and passion towards supporting Starlight, MediaCom helps us to raise enough money to create a positive impact to the lives of 30,000 seriously ill children across the country.”
