Last Thursday, MediaCom hosted over 350 media partners at MediaCom Unplugged.

Held at Sydney’s Luna Park, the event was created to provide the industry’s media partners with a deeper understanding of what MediaCom stands for, their client offerings and  opportunities, its structure and business challenges, while also giving guests an insight into what they can expect from the agency in 2018.

Guests were taken through six immersive experiences which showcased MediaCom’s key departments, clients and talent before closing the day with a Q&A panel with leaders from MediaCom & WPP AUNZ where they discussed all things media, from strategy and investment through to leadership and partner relationships.

Ending the day on a high, MediaCom presented its very own Publisher Awards to celebrate the agency’s partnership with Sydney’s media. Voted for by internally, winners included:

  • Sales Team of the Year Award (sponsored by Sony Playstation): APN Outdoor
  • The Above & Beyond Award (sponsored by Bose): Keahne Archer, NEC
  • Best Campaign Collaboration of 2017 Award (sponsored by KFC): MCN & KFC

Ben McCallum, general manager, MediaCom Sydney said, We have been on a tremendous journey over the last few years and that will only continue as we have a truly fantastic mix of client partners and the best team of people in all of Australia. We really are pushing the boundaries of what a media agency is and our intention is to continue to work closely in partnership with Sydney’s media owners.

“I’d like to thank our media partners for their continuous contribution they make to MediaCom and our clients – we really value your knowledge & capabilities. We’re looking forward to an extremely successful 2018.”

Nikki Rooke, national head of radio Sales at SCA said, “It’s really important that agencies have events like this because so often we are looking for a way in to help with those business outcomes but we don’t know where to start. What the angles are or what it is you want from us – we want to make sure that we are coming to agencies with meaningful solutions.

“What I really enjoyed the most about MediaCom Unplugged was the passion of each team and how much they genuinely seem to love working on their clients, and also how open they were in sharing with us. If only everyone was so confident to share information it would actually make everybody’s lives a hell of a lot easier.”

Mike Baard, managing director at Universal Pictures added, “Events such as these are rare and it’s a fantastic opportunity to really engage with the media community and discuss the challenges we all face in 2018. An increase in communication leads to an increase in education for all involved, and ultimately means together we can build better solutions to engage with our audiences.”

Willie Pang, recently appointed CEO of MediaCom Australia & New Zealand said, “I couldn’t be prouder of our team who worked tirelessly to create MediaCom Unplugged. Everyone’s passion shone through on the day, it really was an incredible success.

“We are determined to build on this momentum and deliver on the promises that we’ve made to our partners. Bravo team.”
