Media Merchants Takes Out oOh!’s 2016 Melbourne Agency Showdown

Media Merchants has won first place at the fourth annual Agency Showdown run by oOh!media at Melbourne’s Lux Bar on Thursday night.

Over 300 advertising industry types joined in the fun as a team from Media Merchants performed a mash-up of songs from artists including Adele, Drake, Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga, which head judge Pete Whitehead, oOh! national sales director, said was an inventive and brilliant performance lead by Rochelle Bartlett.

“Rochelle’s voice really brought Media Merchants’ performance to the next level. All of the judges were gobsmacked by her talent,” Whitehead said.

The rest of the judging panel included Dave Thornton (stand-up comedian and radio host), Patrick Harvey (Former ‘Neighbours’ star and voice over artist), and Tim Morrison (Former ‘The Voice’ finalist).

Runners up for the night were Mediacom, who performed an acoustic mash-up piece that featured singing and rapping.

Mindshare took out the People’s Choice Award for their performance which included a dance to Chris Lilley’s ‘Bad Habit’ which featured in his popular TV series Summer Heights High.

Whitehead commended other performers from UM and Starcom, and said the night overall was a great success.

“We’re in our fourth year now and this event is becoming one of the highlights of the Melbourne industry’s calendar.” he said. “To get 250 of our closest agency friends to join us on a bitterly cold Melbourne Winters’ night highlights just how much the agency community view oOh!’s Agency Showdown as an absolutely unmissable event each year,”
