MasterChef’s George Calombaris Pleads Guilty To Assault At A-League GF

MasterChef judge George Calombaris has this morning pleaded guilty to assaulting a spectator at the A-League grand final in Sydney in May.

Calombaris was charged with common assault after video emerged of him confronting a young fan at the Sydney Football Stadium before being led away by police.

The grand final was between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC, and Calombaris is a keen Victory fan.

In the video of the incident, Calombaris is heckled by supporters in the stand including a jibe about the chef underpaying staff in his restaurants. Calombaris then approaches a fan and shoves him in the chest.

In the Downing Centre Local Court today, Calombaris’ barrister, Brendan Green, entered a guilty plea on behalf of his client who was not present.

Calombaris nor Channel Ten are yet to comment on the verdict.
