Growing consumer marketplace app Carousell has onboarded former MD of Rakuten Marketing APAC JJ Eastwood to lead its advertising sales and operations division.
In a media release, Carousell said Eastwood’s appointment will deepen its advertising offerings following the appointment of Lewis NG as chief commercial officer in May.
Eastwood will report to Ng and is responsible for building commercial relationships with brands. His remit will also include managing Carousell’s advertising strategy across high-value categories like cars and property.
He said of his appointment: “Carousell is uniquely positioned between two of the fastest-growing industries in South-east Asia, e-commerce and digital advertising, and with treasure trove of search and intent data that marketers can leverage, it is an exciting time to be joining the business.”
At Rakuten Marketing, Eastwood was responsible for expanding the company’s programmatic, affiliate and search businesses. He has also worked as GM for eBay Australia, MD of advertising at Rocket Fuel and is a former CEO of HuffPost Australia.
