News reader Sacha Barbour, who works on the Jase & PJ breakfast show, said on an unnamed podcast that she had heard rumours that made her not want to work with Bryce Ruthven again.

Ruthven was controversial during his time on MAFS as fans reacted negatively to his treatment of wife Melissa, and to rumours that he had a girlfriend outside of the experiment. Before the show, he worked as a radio host at HIT 104.7 in Canberra.

According to The Daily Mail, ‘Chatty Tony’ Alrdige, KIIS 101.1’s content director, previously said that Ruthven had approached him about work at the station.

The publication wrote that, “Mr Aldridge said he expressed reservation about hiring Ruthven given his bad reputarion from MAFS, but climed the main reason he couldn’t offer him any work was because there weren’t any vacancies for DJs.”

Barbour then said, “I know things about him but I’m obviously not going to say them because that’s very unprofessional.”

“But yes, I’m glad that maybe there isn’t a position [at KIIS 101.1] for him at the moment.”

However, Ruthven then told the Daily Mail that while he had spoken to Aldridge, it wasn’t about a job, and said that he had never spoken to Barbour, despite working with her for nine months.

“It’s disappointing that media personalities attempt to bring down others in their industry instead of supporting each other – particularly when they don’t know the first thing about the person they’re making comments about.”
