Independent B2B marketing consultancy IMA B2B has appointed Roy Wakelin-King as strategic advisor, government engagement, infrastructure & industry leadership.
The appointment will serve to help clients navigate the intersection of business and government, particularly in sectors where policy, procurement, and regulation define commercial outcomes, including infrastructure, mining, construction, manufacturing, transport, energy, and defence.
Wakelin-King brings over 30 years of senior leadership experience across government, industry associations, and the Australian Army.
Career highlights include guiding the NSW taxi industry through the disruption of ridesharing, positioning the industry for a competitive future, and securing Australia’s largest compensation and transition package, as well as executive leadership roles at Transport for NSW and Roads & Maritime, where he led a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure delivery program.
“The appointment marks a significant expansion of the consultancy’s offering, adding the ability to support clients in industries where government plays a decisive role,” Jake Cush, CCO of IMA said.
“Government engagement is fundamental to how our clients engage, grow, and compete. Whether it’s tech, infrastructure, mining, energy, or construction, government priorities and procurement frameworks can make or break winning tenders and new projects,” Cush added.
“Roy’s appointment is pivotal to our support in this critical area, giving clients access to rare insider expertise on how government decides, funds, and partners. Few marketing consultancies can claim access to the level of Government insight which Roy brings; his appointment clearly signals IMA’s commitment to bridging goals with policy and infrastructure priorities,” Cush added.
“I’m looking forward to helping IMA’s clients strengthen their government relationships and position themselves for growth,” Wakelin-King said.
“I’m delighted to join IMA at such a pivotal juncture for Australian business and their interaction with Government. The opportunities and challenges that come from government decisions are immense, and my experience will help clients navigate policy, procurement, and partnerships in ways that create long-term success,” Wakelin-King added.
The move follows IMA’s recent acquisition of Proof Communications, a specialist in business-winning tenders, strengthening its ability to position clients with both commercial and government decision-makers.
Wakelin-King’s appointment is effective immediately.
