PHD Aotearoa has been reappointed as Spark New Zealand’s media partner following a competitive pitch process.

It extends a long-standing relationship between the two businesses that began when PHD first won the account in 2017.

B&T understands that it was one of the most hotly contested media reviews in New Zealand this year.

PHD, which is part of Omnicom Oceania, said both businesses share an ambition to build a more connected, data and customer-led approach to marketing. This approach, it added would accelerate growth, improve return on investment and position Spark for the future.

Since the inception of the relationship, PHD said the two businesses have built a strong partnership, delivering ambitious work together and winning more than 60 local and international awards, including multiple Cannes Lions.

“PHD stood out for the strength of its strategic thinking and creativity, underpinned by deep technology and trading expertise. Just as importantly, they have a talented team we’re excited to continue working with,” said Leela Ashford, chief marketing and corporate affairs officer of Spark New Zealand.

“The partnership between Spark New Zealand and our agency is one that we take huge pride in; we’re very grateful for our strong relationship and collaboration with Spark, its team and partners,” added Abby Parkin, CEO of PHD Aotearoa.

“This process gave us a unique opportunity to evolve our relationship and demonstrate how media can be the catalyst for business and marketing transformation.”
