New Zealand has claimed its first-ever Winter Olympics gold medal after 20-year-old Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (pictured below) won the women’s slopestyle final.

As is common practise with these things, a TV news crew was dispatched to interview Sadowski-Synnott’s family on the win.

Real estate agent dad, Sean, stepped-up to the plate from his home in Wanaka in Central Otago to tell of the family’s joy.

The reporter asked Sean how proud he was of his daughter, to which he replied: “I’m pretty fucking excited, to be honest.”

Earlier in the clip, he described the reaction of Sadowski-Synnott’s younger sister Illy as “fucking crazy. She went off the roof”, as the reporter blithely nodded along.

He then offered a bizarre response when asked by the reporter how hard his daughter had worked to become an Olympic champion.

“Well the toilet blocked up this morning, ah, yesterday morning,” he replied.

Check out the bizarre, sweary action below:

Back in Beijing, the victorious, newly-minted gold medallist revealed to news site Reuters that her dad “had a few too many drinks at that point”.

She added: “But you can’t really blame him, it was Waitangi Day in New Zealand (a national holiday), and his daughter just won the Olympics so…

“The last 24 hours have been a whirlwind, super-stoked to be standing here with gold around my neck,” she said.

Not that too many people were offended by Mr Sadowski-Synnott’s drunken obscenities.

One person tweeted:”If I ever win an Olympic medal, my dad better be at least this excited for me,” while another added: “This is exactly how you are supposed to feel! Proud Father!”

It certainly brings back fond memories of our very own Kaylee McKeown, who dropped her very own “fuck yeah” during an interview with Channel Seven after winning gold at last year’s Tokyo Olympics in the 100 metre backstroke. Relive the fun below:
