Chinese automotive brand GWM has partnered with Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers in a new multi-year partnership, in its first-ever cricket sponsorship.

This new deal comes off the back of GWM being named as the new major sponsor of Richmond Football Club from 2026, highlighting its continued support for Australian sport.

Embedding itself within local cricket communities, the latest collaboration with two of the Big Bash League’s (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League’s (WBBL) New South Wales cricket clubs will bring to life: GWM fan activation zones at both Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers home games, in-bowl experiences via stadium big screens, representation on Thunder’s kits, and community engagement initiatives across New South Wales.

“We are proud to step up to the crease as co-major sponsor for Sydney Thunder and the automotive sponsor for Sydney Sixers. Cricket is at the heart of Australian culture, and this partnership reflects our long-term commitment to engaging and supporting fans, players, families, and communities across New South Wales through numerous planned initiatives,” chief operating officer of GWM Australia & New Zealand, John Kett said.

“Cricket and car travel go hand in hand, and we’re excited to bring cricket fans closer to the action – from match day travel to providing vehicles that help the teams arrive ready to open the batting on top form every match,” Kett added.

“The partnership with GWM is an exciting step for Sydney Thunder. GWM’s support will help us nurture our internationally renowned talent and strengthen our Western Sydney community ties, while delivering an even better game-day experience for fans,” Sydney Thunder general manager, Trent Copeland added.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome GWM to the Sixers family. From our very first conversation, it was clear we share the same values. Their ‘Go With More’ philosophy resonated deeply with our team culture. Together, we look forward to creating an unforgettable summer experience for our fans this season,” Sydney Sixers general manager, Rachael Haynes said.

This partnership, alongside the Richmond Football Club sponsorship, reflects GWM’s growth strategy in Australia.

GWM offers a diverse range of vehicles spanning SUVs, pickups, new energy vehicles, and luxury off-road vehicles.
