Getty Images And AlmapBBDO Scoops Up Multiple Cannes Lions Awards

Millions of Images. Endless Possibilities, the global campaign created by Brazilian agency AlmapBBDO in partnership with Getty Images, has been awarded multiple honours by the Cannes Lions jury.

The innovative campaign, which seeks to show the depth of Getty Images’ extensive collection of millions of images, and how through imagery, any idea can come to life, was awarded in the following categories:

  • Print & Publishing – Gold Lion and Silver Lion
  • Outdoor – Gold Lion and Silver Lion
  • Digital Craft – Silver Lion
  • Film – Bronze Lion
  • Integrated – Gold Lion
  • Direct – Bronze Lion

The concept features several famous faces – the likeness of Angela Merkel, Prince Charles, the Dalai Lama and Pope Francis – in an unexpected way: meticulously reconstructed only using creative stills from Getty Images.

All of the Endless Possibilities campaign assets, including film, print, poster and the microsite, utilise images from Getty Images and iStock by Getty Images to reconstruct famous faces.

“We are delighted to have received this recognition from the Cannes Lions jury,” said Susan Smith Ellis, chief marketing officer at Getty Images.

“This campaign highlights not only the quality and breadth of Getty Images’ creative content, but also the top tier creative talent at AlmapBBDO. This is a game changing campaign and it is thrilling to see this response from the creative community.”

Daniel Oksenberg, senior copywriter at Almapp BBDO added, “Almapp BBDO and Getty Images have a long partnership together – we were awarded here a few years ago!

“Every year gets harder and harder to reach the big idea because every year the standards are higher. Today we are happy that we managed to get there and be awarded again with a great campaign that we are proud of.”

Over the past seven years, Getty Images and AlmapBBDO have partnered to create award winning campaigns, such as “From Love to Bingo”, “85 Seconds” and,  most recently, the Getty Images 20th anniversary campaign which was awarded two Gold and a Bronze at the One Show Awards in New York, in May 2016.
