In today’s celebratory profile of our Women in Media winners, we pick the brains of Sales champ Kate Day, who is the director of commercial strategy, CREATE, at Nova Entertainment, and a great coffee date too!
No challenge is too big or small for Kate Day, who leads Nova Entertainment’s branded entertainment team, CREATE, including over sixty of the industry’s most diverse talents across multiple disciplines.
These disciplines incorporate content development and production, strategy, sponsorships, design, research and analytics, digital campaign operations and trade marketing.
Promoted to the newly-created role of director of commercial strategy in late 2015, Kate and her team work directly with the Nova sales team, clients and partners to produce industry leading strategic media solutions that deliver results and grow both broadcast and non-traditional revenue streams.
In 2015, Kate created and launched a ground-breaking new trade engagement platform, ‘Let Us Tell Your Story’. The core idea was simple – behind every great brand is a great story.
The antithesis to the traditional media ‘upfront’, Kate didn’t roll out high profile talent to predictable all-agency presentations, but rather focused solely on proving Nova Entertainment’s superior story-telling credentials in one-to-one meetings with agency partners.
The response from both sales team and agency partners has been overwhelmingly positive; over 1600 ‘Story’ appointments have been executed with agencies to date, with over $9 million revenue directly generated as a result.
