Former Bachelorette Brooke Blurton has spoken out about how she thinks the channel 10 franchise can return to its ratings heyday.
Blurton who was most recently the first bi-sexual bachelorette was the face of a very hyped season that featured both males and females vying for her heart – it was cool and progressive television.
Interestingly, while that season of Bachelorette did well on BVOD it failed to bring in huge numbers like Nine’s love-match show Married At First Sight does.
Still, there’s no denying the Bachelor/Bachelorette is a beloved franchise, who can forget Sophie Monks’ season that was definitely a water-cooler conversation.
Blurton has now opened up to The Daily Mail about what she believes would help the franchise, “Obviously there was a time where it was a little bit outdated, but I think they need to start incorporating more wholesome, intellectual conversations and people will resonate with that.
“The US one is still very successful. I think people really do love the franchise.”
Blurton also clarified, “I love the franchise, and what it’s enabled me to shine a light on. I came in to amp it up a little bit, but I think it still has a lot of room to grow.”
Of course, Blurton’s comments are interesting but considering shows like MAFS are pulling in the big number. It might suggest that audiences aren’t looking for more intellectual conversations but rather more drama.
Still, let’s not underestimate 10’s ability to refresh the franchise this is the network that came up with having sisters on the Bachelorette!
