Presented by Finecast, Best of the Best will bring something unique to this year’s awards season. While most awards focus on the work of an agency or company as a whole, Best of the Best will celebrate the immense individual talent on show in every area of advertising, marketing and media.
Our Best of the Best awards will also be celebrating the people who continue to do the most, with categories for mentors and social change-makers.
You can find a breakdown of all the different categories here, along with a downloadable file outlining the full submission criteria.
Come on, you know you want to enter! Head on over HERE to complete your submission/s by Friday 25 June 2021.
To inspire you even more to enter Best of the Best, we’re continuing to publish some fab interviews with a number of senior folk from Finecast and the broader WPP AUNZ network.
We’ve asked them everything from their best piece of career advice, to the best mistake they’ve ever made, to their best guilty pleasure.
It’s time now to share our chat with MediaCom’s chief growth officer for Australia and New Zealand, Matthew Vogts. Enjoy…
Best piece of career advice…
Effort plus reflection equals progress.
Every experience is a learning one. The tougher the experience, the more opportunity there is to grow – but only if you take a breath and take the time to reflect.
Best agency in Australia at the moment (that’s not yours) and why…
Hogarth. They are offering a truly unique approach to creativity at scale and helping brands connect in more personalised ways.
Best industry leader and why…
Rose Herceg (chief strategy officer at WPP AUNZ) for leading from the front. She is deeply passionate about what we do, deeply knowledgeable about our clients and blistering fast at getting things done.
Best mentor in your life/career and why…
One I know is my grandfather, whose approach to life taught me the value of a consistent, tireless work ethic and the importance of family.
One I observe from afar is Ray Dalio (founder of Bridgewater Associates), whose deep thought and reflections on management and personal development are an ongoing guide for me. I would recommend his book Principles to anyone.
Best brand you’ve never worked on and why…
Financial Times. Those pink sheets are iconic for their tenure as a global standard, and they back it up year after year with the quality of their journalism.
Best song for inspiration and why…
“You Only Live Once” by The Strokes. A tune, a good reminder and a great track to run to.
Best mistake you’ve ever made…
Three years (and a sizeable loan) restarting my undergrad degree over and over.
I would have made a terrible doctor, lawyer, analyst or PR consultant, but learnt from each false start and love where it’s taken me.
Best rumour you’ve heard about yourself…
Nothing that’s made its way back to me yet.
Best ad of the past decade and why…
As a proud Kiwi, definitely New Zealand’s COVID-19 health and safety campaign, ‘United against COVID-19’. Simple, clear and incredibly powerful. In the face of a global crisis, it appealed to the best in all of us: work together and be kind.
Best guilty pleasure…
A Sunday sleep-in.
