Eager Grad Scores McCann Gig By Showing Up As ‘Fearless Girl’ Statue

A recent graduate has scored a month-long paid internship at McCann Bristol having shown up to the agency dressed as McCann Worldwide’s now-famous ‘Fearless Girl’ statue.

According to Adweek, Jade Delaney sent a message to McCann Bristol managing director Andy Reid over Linkedin explaining her somewhat left-of-centre tactic.

She wrote, “Today, I will be arriving outside McCann adorned in gold. Advertising, meet the #FearlessGirlBristol.”

Adding, “I’m advertising myself as a determined young creative looking for a placement.”

“Know the power of women in advertising. I can make a difference.”

Without fail, Delaney showed up at the agency sprayed head-to-toe in gold paint and held the position of the Fearless Girl, plaque and all.

Speaking to Adweek, Reid said, “We are lucky enough to be inundated with the CVs of graduates who are looking to take their first step on the career ladder.”

“Jade has been brave enough to stand out from the crowd, which is a fantastic trait for anyone starting a career in advertising.”

Upon receiving the internship, Delaney said, “It’s pretty tricky getting noticed by employers when you’re a graduate, so I decided to turn into a statue for the day to emulate one of McCann’s most iconic campaigns.”

“It was exciting to walk along the street covered in gold paint, and the stunt worked wonders,” Delaney said.

“It’s fantastic to be offered a placement at McCann Bristol, and hopefully I’ve also helped to highlight the power of young women in advertising.”

McCann’s Fearless Girl garnered international praise when it was unveiled in New York City last year and picked up a slew of Cannes Lions not long after.
