“Melbourne: June 13, 2014 – In a bold move to expand its mobile engagement offering, leading creative technology agency DT, part of STW, has acquired mobile/games specialist Millipede.

The deal sees Millipede move into DT’s offices, where they will remain branded Millipede but will allow the two agencies to partner on a broad range of large-scale projects.

DT Managing Director, Brian Vella said the acquisition was part of a strategy to “expand the agency’s capability in the mobile and enterprise market.”

“We’ve recently had great success with apps ranked #1 in the Apple and Google Play stores, demonstrating the talent already in our own business and what we’re capable of. The acquisition of Millipede allows us to strengthen our offer even further, and cement our leadership position.”

Since opening its doors in 2005, Millipede has experienced solid growth, making engaging sites and apps for companies like KPMG, Telstra, BMW and NAB.

Founding Director, Wil Monte says of the decision to join DT: “We’re a great bunch of creatively focused techies who love coming work each day. This move allows us to continue to do the work we love, and leverage the stability and backing of DT management to pursue an aggressive growth strategy.”

Co-director of the new Millipede and former general manager of mobile enterprise specialist Tigerspike Melbourne, Zac Jacobs adds: “We are seeing huge potential in enterprise mobile platforms. Uniting the Millipede creative magic and mobile development expertise with DT’s enterprise platform experience will create a unique offer in the market.”

DT’s Vella explains the two agencies also had a great cultural fit. “One of the standout things when we first met with the Millipede owners was the similarities in our cultures and strong views on creative technology”, he said.

Monte adds “DT has enjoyed tremendous growth over the years, born from the same roots as ours, starting out in a studio in Richmond, so we’re very enthusiastic about our future together.”

DT is part of STW, Australasia’s leading marketing content and communications group.”
