The AFL has launched its ad campaign for 2017, which stars none other than Hollywood hunk Chris Hemsworth.
The TVC opens to Hemsworth pitching and AFL movie to a bunch of Hollywood executives, where the Aussie actor say it would be a “modern day epic” featuring the heroics of his team – the Western Bulldogs – in last year’s grand final.
Hemsworth puts forward Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli as the main character for the film, putting on the player’s jersey and taking a mark in the boardroom.
The campaign also draws on the success of the tagline ‘I’d like to see that’, which was used in the AFL’s 1994 ad, as well as in the new campaign to spruik the women’s AFL competition.
