Day three and boy do we have some news for you (unless you are avid B&T subscribers, then you might already know).
After our presentation we felt a strange numbness and had no idea what to expect. Up against 60 of the best young global talent, it dawned on us just how big the competition really was.
It took us 31 hours to get here, but turns out it was worth it.
On Tuesday night at 6.00pm we entered the Palais as 2 junior media strategists and walked out as Silver Young Lions!
We were quickly swept away to the Carlton where we were met with a celebratory magnum of rosé this size of a large baby.
It was the day that Cannes was painted red with UM picking up the Gold and Silver Media Lions. Coming in first place were the boys from the UK – Rob Bellamy and William Parish from UM London. Having heard their idea, they absolutely deserved the gold. We are proud to be part of a global network that nurtures and treasures their young talent.
We were lucky enough to be pulled aside by one of the judges on the panel from McCann Chile. She explained to us why she loved our idea and congratulated us for being a female team. To win silver as two women is an incredible feeling, we are proud to be smashing the stereotypes.
Building a campaign for Amnesty International was an honour. We were given the task of engaging Millennials to partake in their “write for rights campaign” to write 200K letters to political prisoners – the scale of letters sent aiding their release.
Letter writing is no longer a pre-existing behaviour, particularly for Millennials.
So we needed to identify a group of Millennials who had the time and compassion to write letters.
We realised these individuals are all in one place – universities, the place you start to define and declare your beliefs.
The pinnacle of your university experience is graduation, the moment you want to take on the world – and the most photographed and documented day of your life from Facebook photos to the framed image on the wall of your parents house.

The idea: Write of Passage
We own graduation day, asking university students to write letters in exchange for a yellow amnesty tassel to wear on your mortarboard hat as a visual symbol of your commitment
The yellow tassel is an entirely new and untapped medium.
The visual symbol means these letters are not just sent and forgotten, but live on forever in photos and memories of graduation forever.
We are so proud of our accomplishment, representing Australia and bringing home metal. That’s what we came here to do and we can’t wait to celebrate back home.
