VaynerMedia has appointed Anita Munro as managing director for Asia Pacific in January, succeeding Tim Lindley, who will step down at the end of the year following a six-year tenure leading the region.
Lindley joined VaynerMedia in 2020 as head of strategy, advancing to managing director in just six months. Over the next six years, he spearheaded an expansion that scaled the agency to eight offices across key markets including Singapore, Australia, India and Japan, drove multifold commercial growth, and built a marquee client roster including Grab, Cathay Pacific and SharkNinja.
Across his tenure, he established VaynerMedia’s modern social-at-the-centre model, integrating end-to-end strategy, creative, media, and production under one roof.
“Earlier in the year, Tim let me know he was excited about exploring new opportunities and challenges. While heartbroken because I’ve loved our time together, I’m excited about the opportunity to continue building on the foundation we’ve established in the region with Anita’s addition and look forward to continuing to bring our current and future partners into a modern marketing framework,” said VaynerMedia chairman and chief executive Gary Vaynerchuk.
“Part of building something well is knowing when to pass it on. This team held to Gary’s vision to get the model right, even when easier paths were on the table, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve built. Working alongside them has been the most rewarding experience of my career. Under Anita, the best is still ahead,” said Lindley.
Munro brings more than 20 years of Asia Pacific leadership to VaynerMedia, joining from WPP Media where she most recently served as chief executive of Thailand.
Her background bridges regional scale and local market execution, having previously served as GroupM’s chief investment officer and chair of the APAC Investment Council.
A long-time advocate for industry talent, she is the co-founding partner of Campaign Asia’s regional Leading Change programme to advance women in leadership. Taking the helm at VaynerMedia, Munro will accelerate regional growth and lead the agency into its next chapter.
“Tim has played a massive role in VaynerMedia’s growth in the APAC region over the last six years. On both a human and business level, he’s shaped the culture of a team who does some of our most innovative and impactful work across the globe. It’s a big seat to fill but I can’t think of someone better than Anita to step into things. Her deep business and marketing acumen along with her attention to building best-in-class teams across the region will make for a fast fit with the team and our partners,” said VaynerMedia president international Marcus Krzastek.
“I’m thrilled to be joining VaynerMedia at such an exciting moment for the business. The clarity of the vision and model, the quality of the team and the strength of the culture have deeply impressed me. I’m looking forward to building on the momentum already established across the region and to taking this exciting next step in my own career,” said Munro.
Lindley will remain with the agency through December to ensure a seamless transition before his next venture in the new year.
