Artificial intelligence isn’t replacing human creativity, it’s accelerating it, according to top execs at this year’s AdobeMax event in Los Angeles.
The creative conference kicked off yesterday and is aimed at designers, illustrators, photographers, social media content creators, video pros and more. It saw a slew of Adobe execs introduce an array of new AI innovations, models and partnerships connected to its Creative Cloud applications.
“We believe every creator should be able to harness the economic and artistic opportunities flowing from generative AI, conversational AI and the exploding global demand for creative content,” said David Wadhwani, president of digital media at Adobe.
From Photoshop and Lightroom to Premiere, Illustrator and beyond, product demos across Adobe’s suite made up the morning keynote sessions.
Collaboration with other industry powerhouses was also centre stage, with major new strategic partnerships with Google Cloud + YouTube revealed, expanded enterprise integrations with Amazon, LinkedIn, TikTok, Innovid, and Google Marketing Platform.
If that wasn’t enough, expanded AI ecosystem partnerships were also unveiled with ElevenLabs, Topaz Labs, OpenAI, Runway, Luma, and Black Forest Labs.
Partnerships with Google and YouTube specifically, will see integration of Google’s Gemini, Veo, and Imagen models directly into Adobe apps and allow enterprise customers to customise them through Firefly Foundry. And with YouTube, Adobe Premiere Mobile will soon include a Create for YouTube Shorts space that allows creators to edit and publish directly to the Shorts platform with pro-grade tools and Firefly-powered effects.
Adobe vice president of product marketing, creative professionals, Deepa Subramaniam, said that by giving more power, precision, control – and time-savings – Creative Cloud is truly “the creative professional’s best friend”.
Adobe as a business argues it takes the most creator-friendly approach to AI in the industry and that it views AI as a tool for, not a replacement of, human
creativity. The business believes that generative AI can be developed responsibly, starting with respect for creators’ rights.
“We’re delivering a ground-breaking infusion of AI tools and models into creative professionals’ go-to apps, so they can harness the tremendous economic and creative opportunities presented by the rising global demand for creative content,” said Subramaniam.
New products and tie-ins aside, the clear message was that AI isn’t replacing human creativity, it’s accelerating it, with thousands of attendees cheering and clapping at the new product rollouts.
Client testimonials via video included the likes of Newell Brands, which owns brands such as outdoor company Coleman, Elmer’s glue and Paper Mate and Parker Pens.
Ad agency Dentsu also appeared via video to discuss how much of a “game changer” Adobe Express has been. The result was a 70 per cent faster time to market for content, with tasks that may have taken two to three weeks, being done in under 15 minutes.
Here’s a snapshot of news unveiled at Adobe Max 2025:
Major AI Upgrades Across Creative Cloud
Adobe has introduced AI innovations across Creative Cloud apps including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, Illustrator, and Firefly, aimed at empowering creative professionals with greater control, precision and speed.
Highlights include the new AI Assistant in Photoshop, which automates repetitive tasks and offers personalised recommendations, and Firefly Boards’ AI-powered image upscaling and prompt generation for faster collaborative ideation.
Other updates feature advanced masking, generative fill, and assisted culling, plus bulk image editing and enhanced vector tools. With more than 100 new features and performance improvements, Adobe’s AI infusion helps creators save time, meet growing content demand, and work with unprecedented efficiency.
Adobe GenStudio Powers Scaled, On-Brand AI Content Across Top Ad Platforms
Adobe GenStudio introduces advanced AI-powered content production and brand customisation through Firefly Foundry, Firefly Design Intelligence and Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise.
Businesses can now create deeply tuned, proprietary AI models across image, video, audio, vector and 3D assets. GenStudio for Performance Marketing enables automated content assembly, activation and optimisation across major advertising partners, including Amazon Ads, Google Marketing Platform, Innovid, LinkedIn and TikTok.
Fortune 100 brands such as Coca-Cola, Estée Lauder, PepsiCo, IBM, NFL and Prudential leverage these tools to scale on-brand campaigns, streamline workflows, and boost creative output in their quest to deliver personalised, high-quality content faster and at scale.
Adobe and Google Cloud Expand Partnership to Advance Creative AI
Adobe and Google Cloud have announced an expanded strategic partnership to integrate Google’s advanced AI models, including Gemini, Veo, and Imagen, directly into Adobe apps such as Photoshop, Premiere, Express and Firefly.
Adobe enterprise customers can use Firefly Foundry to customise these models with proprietary data, enabling scalable, on-brand content creation.
The collaboration also extends to GenStudio, allowing businesses to streamline content production and marketing workflows. Both companies will coordinate go-to-market efforts to expand global access to these AI tools, providing creators, creative professionals, and enterprises with enhanced capabilities to produce high-quality, precise, and innovative content.
Adobe + YouTube
Adobe and YouTube are joining forces to turn creators into viral-video superheroes.
Premiere mobile’s “pro-level editing” now plugs directly into YouTube Shorts, letting creators remix, polish and publish content in minutes.
With studio-quality audio, multi-track precision, AI-generated effects via Firefly, ready-to-go templates, and more. Tap “Edit in Adobe Premiere” and suddenly transitions, titles, and eye-catching effects can happen at your fingertips.
Firefly Evolves
Adobe’s Firefly, the all-in-one creative AI studio, received a major upgrade with new audio, video, and imaging tools.
Creators can now compose original soundtracks, generate lifelike voiceovers, and edit footage with a new timeline-based video editor — all powered by Firefly’s models and partner integrations from ElevenLabs, Topaz Labs, Google, OpenAI and Runway.
A new Firefly Image Model 5 brings photorealistic 4-megapixel generation, “Prompt to Edit” conversational editing, and the ability to build ‘Custom Models’ that reflect a creator’s unique style.
Firefly Creative Production, currently in beta, lets users batch-edit thousands of images at once — swapping backgrounds, colour-grading, and cropping via no-code automation. Adobe also previewed Project Moonlight, a conversational AI assistant that helps creators turn ideas into content within minutes.
GenStudio and Firefly Foundry Power the Enterprise
For brands and marketers, Adobe expanded its GenStudio platform, embedding AI directly into content supply chains and partnering with Amazon Ads, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Innovid to automate campaign activation.
The launch of Adobe Firefly Foundry enables businesses to train private, brand-specific AI models on their own IP — a solution already being used by companies such as Walt Disney Imagineering and Coca-Cola.
AI Assistant Brings Conversational Creativity to Everyone
Adobe has launched a new AI Assistant (beta) in Adobe Express, enabling users of all skill levels to create content through conversational commands.
The assistant understands design context, recommends edits and allows users to adjust individual layers, fonts, images and backgrounds without starting over.
Integrated with Adobe’s creative tools and professional assets, it transforms templates into dynamic, editable canvases. Enterprise features coming soon will enable on-brand, self-serve content creation across organisations. By combining agentic AI with design intelligence, the Express AI Assistant makes creating high-quality visuals faster, easier, and accessible to everyone — from non-designers to creative professionals.
