Woolies shifts PR to One Green Bean

EXCLUSIVE: Supermarket giant Woolworths has awarded One Green Bean its consumer public relations account following a pitch which kicked off late last year.

Woolworths started the process in December with One Green Bean fighting off five other agencies to bring home the account.

Kristen Young, group manager for retail communications at Woolworths, confirmed the appointment.

“We have worked with a number of different agencies on projects depending on the need of the particular brief at the time,” Young told B&T.

“What we really saw the need for was to bring it all together as one piece of work where we have a group of people who are experts in our business across all the different areas where we work be that corporate social responsibility, product PR or brand marketing. And so we ran the pitch and One Green Bean were successful.”

One Green Bean’s managing director Matt Buchanan will lead a group of 10 on the supermarket’s account.

“This is the first time they have had a retained consumer PR agency across the entire supermarket business,” Buchanan told B&T.
