The DeGeneres Show to boost tourism dollars

Qantas and Swisse have banded together to bring another talkshow queen Down Under, with The Ellen Degeneres Show to touch down in Australia in March.

The stunt has been described as a “great coup for Australian tourism”, by the Qantas Group’s chief executive Alan Joyce.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show is one of the top-rating shows in the United States and screens in several key source tourism markets, making it a great platform to profile what Australia has to offer as a holiday destination,” Joyce said.

“Ellen is a household name and her unique brand of fun and optimism is a perfect match for the relaxed Australian culture.”

The visit was announced by DeGeneres and Nicole Kidman, global ambassador for Swisse Wellness, in an episode that was filmed last week.

The show is forecast to be seen by more than 16 million people worldwide.

DeGeneres’ trip comes after Qantas and Tourism Australia partnered to bring Oprah Winfrey and her show to Australia.

DeGeneres will film segments in Melbourne and Sydney with the episodes to air in April in approximately 60 countries.

The in-studio DeGeneres audience all received a free return flight on Qantas with the flights able to be taken any time before the end of the year.

"We look forward to working with Swisse Wellness and the tourism sector in Victoria and New South Wales to help maximise worldwide exposure,” Joyce added.
