Television shows, retail fashion and food brands are the most liked Facebook pages with children’s program Bananas in Pyjamas topping the list.
TV programs have accumulated more than 9.35 million Facebook fans and the Bananas have won over 2 million alone, a report by digital agency Online Circle Digital found.
Home and Away is the second most liked show and was one of the most talked about fan pages in February. MasterChef came third.
Lucio Ribeiro, lead strategist at Online Circle Digital, said: “TV and social media are no longer disparate entities. In fact, TV viewing has become social currency.”
“Networks, TV programs and radio shows are the new social media players alongside brands.”
Retail fashion jumped to second place with more than 5.5 million fans overall while FMCG snackfoods came third with 4.8 million and beverages in fourth with 3.9 million.
A look at the top overall 30 Facebook fan pages shows that junk food and fizzy drinks rule.
Four of the top 10 spots were taken by junk food and soft drinks with Bubble O’Bill in second place overall followed by Pringles in third and Coke in sixth.
