Puberty Blues drops in second week but online views push debut to over 1m

Ten’s Puberty Blues is still feeling the ratings blues as audiences drop slightly for the second episode of its second season.

Puberty Blues struggled against the competition again last night, winning just 477,000 viewers according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

The figures are down on last Wednesday’s season debut when 538,000 fans returned to the drama.

However, viewers for the first episode have risen to over one million since its television broadcast with 599,000 online views via tenplay between March 5 to March 12, according to Network Ten.

Up against the tail end of My Kitchen Rules (1.630 million) and The Block: Fans v Faves (1.140 million) the Australian drama struggled against Nine’s Inside Story and Seven’s The Blacklist.

The star reality programs proved better lead-ins to the later prime-time slot than Ten’s The Biggest Loser: Challenge Australia which did not feature in the top 20 programs.

Seven’s The Blacklist won the slot with 904,000 viewers to come just ahead of Nine’s Inside Story which pulled in 855,000 viewers. There were 155,000 m ore viewers for this week’s Inside Story compared to the previous.

Seven won the night overall with a total 34.9% share of all free-to-air viewers with 26.7% for the network’s primary channel.

Nine was in second place with a combined 30.6% as the main channel took home 24.1%.

In third place sat the ABC with 15.4%. ABC1 won 9.9%.

Ten came in at number four on a total 14.7% with 9.1% for its primary channel.
