Viewers of The Australian Open quarterfinals are down on Monday night's result as 896,000 people tuned in to the early broadcast with 793,000 staying on to see Novak Djokovic lose in five-sets to Stanislas Wawrinka.
The result comes on the back of yesterday’s 1.06 million viewers.
The Open was the most watched non-news program on Tuesday night and helped Seven win a total 33.8% share of all free-to-air viewers, according to OzTam’s overnight metro ratings.
The tennis proved more popular than the cricket with only 613,000 people watching the first half of the T20 Big Bash League on Ten.
Viewers dropped to 556,000 for the 28th game’s second half.
Ten’s total combined share was 17.6% with 12% going to the network’s main channel.
Nine had the evening’s most watched program with 1.168 million choosing Nine New and 1.103 people watched Nine News at 6.30. Nine’s A Current Affair (949,000) had more viewers than the Australian Open at 7pm and it also outperformed Seven’s Today Tonight, which at 6.30pm pulled in 884,000 viewers.
Nine’s total share of all FTA viewers sat at 24.4% with 17.8% for its main channel.
Seven’s primary channel took home 26.8%.
The ABC came third overall with a total share of 19.5% with 13.8% for ABC1.
SBS sat on 4.7% with 3.7% for SBS ONE.
