It’s arguably not crystal clear at first glance but suggests that the next three years there’ll be a focus on Facebook’s existing ecosystems while things like video, search, groups and its apps (WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram) come into play in the following five years.

“That’s the road map for the next 10 years,” Zuckerberg told delegates. “We are building the technology to give anyone the power to share anything they want with anyone else.”

It has been reported that Facebook will use the F8 conference to launch a raft of new products and features. It is understood that the company will increasingly focus on VR, augmented reality and even internet services delivered by drones.

Zuckerberg also used his presentation for a veiled stab at Presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

“I hear fearful voices calling for building walls and distancing people they label as others,” Zuckerberg said onstage. “If the world starts to turn inwards, then our community will just have to work even harder to bring people together.

“Instead of building walls, we can help people build bridges,” he said. “Instead of dividing people, we can help bring people together.”
