Droga5 ANZ, part of Accenture Song, has unveiled a new brand campaign for digital financial services provider, Zip, giving a name to a dilemma every Australian knows: needwant – when you have to purchase something you need and something you want simultaneously.
The campaign shows how Zip’s flexible payment options can help customers manage purchases over time, with greater choice and control.
“Needwant captures a very Australian truth: life rarely presents needs and wants neatly, one at a time,” said Becky Cook, chief customer and revenue officer ANZ at Zip.
“Our new campaign brings this to life in a way that’s human, relatable and memorable, showing how Zip gives customers the trust and flexibility to manage their spending across everyday moments and bigger purchases with greater choice, confidence and control.”
The work was directed by Torstein Bjørklund of Good Oil, who brought his blend of quirky humour fused with precise, straightforward storytelling. The two-film campaign follows Mel, whose cat needs surgery while her kids want a swing set for summer. And Declan, who needs to fix a dodgy wall socket in his garage while he wants a new beer fridge.
“Zip’s flexible options and customer-first approach gave us a fresh way to tell a broader story about the breadth of its offering. With wit and smarts this campaign gives customers a whole new vocabulary for balancing the necessary with the discretionary,” said Barbara Humphries, co-chief creative officer, Droga5 ANZ.
Stills are directed and shot by Sarah Adamson of Photoplay.
The work will run across broadcast video on demand, online video, radio, search, display, social, and owned channels.
The ‘needwant’ campaign kicks off the company’s new Australian brand platform ‘It Pays to Zip’.
