The Women in Media Awards are back for 2018! To celebrate this wonderful fact, and to recognise some of the killer women in our industry, we’ve created a women in media series – and have profiled some pretty inspiring women so far.
This time, B&T chats with Mindshare chief of talent Kerry Field.
Staying up way too late on school nights watching “just one more episode” of a box set.
Your house is on fire (people and animals are fine). What is the one possession you would you save?
My photo albums that capture life before digital technology.
What profession, other than your own, would you never want to attempt?
Deep sea fishing – me and boats don’t get along too well at the best of times.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
When moving into new roles, focus on what you can bring to the role rather than skills or knowledge you don’t currently have.
This has helped me step more confidently into roles when starting something new and unknown.
The ability to reframe situations to look for the positive is incredibly empowering.
What’s your proudest professional moment?
I’m glad to say there have been a few in my 26 years at Mindshare as I’ve moved through different roles.
Reflecting on my career journey recently, I had the realisation that I have always pushed myself forward and out of my comfort zone into new roles.
My perspective had always been that I was in the right place at the right time to take on a new opportunity and I am super proud of that I have proactively driven my career forward over the years.
What women do you find inspiring?
Those who are driving social impact to make a difference in the world.
I sit on the UnLtd Board which has given me exposure to some of the most selfless and incredibly inspiring human beings.
Every one of us can make a positive difference in the world, yet only a few actually do.
What advice would you give to young aspiring women?
Embrace all challenges that are thrown at you. That’s when you learn the most.
Why are women vital to your industry?
The dynamics of today’s business environment have changed.
Great success can only be achieved by having a diverse line-up.
It’s important to have different points of view around a table to ensure we challenge each other to deliver the best possible outcomes at every turn.
